MY MOTHER IS 83 YEARS OLD, HEART PATIENT AND SHE IS SUFFERING FROM HERPES ZORTER BELOW THE CHEST AROUND 6 INCHES x 15 INCHES TOWARDS BACK. SHE HAD TAKEN VALTOVAL 1MG FOR 7 DAYS (3 TIMES A DAY)@. SHE IS HAVING LOT OF PAIN, NOW DOCTOR HAS PRESCRIBED NUROKIND -D, WHAT ARE ITS SIDE EFFECTS AND TELL ME IS THIS DRUG BEFIT TO HER - SON (PRADEEP RAMCHANDANI)
Herpes zoster can be very painful and distressing to any one.
Pain management can sometimes be difficult because it may be difficult to achieve total pain relief. In terms of the medication prescribed nurokind- this is a form of vitamin B12. It is often used to treat neurological pain. Side effects are rare and include itching and diarrhoea.
In addition to this agent her doctor may want to consider other medication that is also used to treat nerve related pain such as lyrica, gabapentin, tegretol.
I hope this helps
