hi ,
my child is 45 days old.we travelled to our native place which is about 500 km away from where we stay by train 10 days back.since then she is possetting / vomiting 6-7 times daily.her birth weight was 2.91 kg.now she is 3.69 kg.my paediatrician has prescribed domstal suspension 0.4 ml thrice daily and asked to review after 2 weeks.she was given vaccination yesterday and she is having mild fever since yesterday night for which she is given 8 drops dolophar.my query is that will the vomiting /possetting stop immediately and completely on starting domstal or will it subside only over a period of 2 or 3 days?should i continue the medication for 2 weeks?

Welcome to HealthCare Magic
Hope you are doing good , you child vomiting will settle in 1 , 2 days the medicine you are using Domstal is domperidone for nausea and vomiting.
Gastric motility disorders such as reflux oesophagitis. Kids usually with that age ofiten vomits , after feeding him do put him on shoulder do not lay him on bed and try to rub has back. Babies upto 6 months often have problem with digesting milk. About fever , its post vaccination fever which will settle in 1 or 2 days. do use dolophar drops for few days as it contains paracetamol.
you dont need to continue the medicine for 2 weeks, if the vomiting does not settle in 5 ,6 days you should see your local pediatrician.
Thanks for using healthcare.

Pediatrician Dr. E Venkata Ramana's  Response
Hi,

Thank you for your query on Healthcare Magic.

The child seems like having gastro esophageal reflux, due to which he is posseting or vomiting.

It is commonly encountered in infants due to lax lower esophageal sphincter.
As the age increases this problem will settle down.

As there is gain in his weight, nothing to worry and continue domstal as advise if there are vomitings.

For fever due to vaccination, you can give dolopar drops in prescribed dose.

Give small quantity of feeds frequently and burp the child after each feeding.

Hope I have answered your query.

Regards.
