What Tests Can Detect Cancer Early?

default
Posted on Mon, 30 Nov 2015
Question: What would the best test possible be to detect cancer. Is there a blood test that would rule cancer out, that might be more rare than just the general CBC? I am not concerned with the price, since I have been feeling horrible for 6 months. I have weight loss, loss of appetite, anxiety and ongoing throat problems that no ENT or Gastro seem to be able to help me with!

Thank you!

Brief Answer:
Hello dear. There is no such test. However, screening is there

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear. These is no such test in the world which could detect cancer in a completely asymptomic male done on a routine basis as it would not be cost effective and would be futile. It is because cancer originate in different areas so a single test can not pick a cancer developing at any of the area.
Screening is done in asymptomatic males and males at high risk only for
colorectal malignancies
and sometimes for other malignancies.
Since you have loss of appetite, weight loss(if it is more than 10 percent of your body weight in last 6 months) i would suggest you to undergo a complete blood count, a chest Xray, thyroid profile, diabetic profile, liver function tests and prior to that a complete physical examination as most of the time there may be reasons other than cancer for these problems.
More over in your age group. screening will start after the age of forty years, for cancer of the breast by a mammogram once in an year.
Thanks and regards
