Brief Answer:
Consultation

Detailed Answer:
Hello, and thanks for your question.

Abilify is used for many purposes. It can be used for treatment of bipolar disorder mania or depression, as a mood stabilizer to prevent manic and depressive episodes, or for psychosis such as hearing voices or paranoia. Abilify has a long half-life and remains in the system for several weeks, so stopping it may not necessarily mean its effects are still not working. It is probably primarily acting to PREVENT depressive and manic episodes in your son, so it is important he remain on it.
