What Does This CT Scan Report Indicate?
Question: Below are the results of my chest CT scan. I don't understand what it means or what exactly is happening with my lungs. What is mild biapical paraseptal emphysema? What is mild lower lobe basilar segment dependent groundglass? What is atelectasis? Will this automatically get worse since emphysema is progressive, or are there things I can do to slow the progression?

lower lobe basilar segment dependent groundglass consistent with dependent
atelectasis. Lungs are clear. There is no focal region of consolidation.
There is no concerning pulmonary nodule or mass. The tracheobronchial tree
is normal.

Emphysema is pathological term. This suggest dilatation of alveoli due to damage. Damaged alveoli will function poor. It is commonly seen with smokers, chemical or fumes exposure (chronic) or previous lung infection.
Ground glass appearance (GGA) is mostly due to inflammation in the lungs. Sometimes it is associated with atelectesis. Lower lobe GGA is mostly due to fluid retention or fluid overload. So if you are having any heart disease then you should look for early heart failure.
Atelectesis is partial collapse of part of lung. Most common cause for this is retained secretions. Retention of secretions are commonly seen with lung infection and heart failure.

I have no symptoms now other than my back hurting. The chest CT scan was done, along with a sinus CT scan, only because I caught a cold/cough that was hanging on for a long time. The only medication I am currently taking is Flonase for my sinuses.
Can the atelectesis cause my back to hurt?
Will the atelectesis go away on its own, or is there something I can take to improve this condition?
Is paraceptal emphysema more/less/the same seriousness as other types of emphysema?
Is there anything I can do, or medicines I can take, to slow down the progression of my paraceptal emphysema?
You mentioned the heart and wondered if I had heart disease.

anterior descending coronary artery. Mild atherosclerotic calcification
involves the aortic arch and the descending thoracic aorta. Moderate
atherosclerotic calcification involves the origin of the right subclavian
artery which likely produces a mild, approximately 25% stenosis. Overall,
there is no mediastinal, hilar, or axillary lymphadenopathy. Visualized
breast parenchyma is normal."
Are these heart findings a cause for concern?
Is there anything I can do, or medicines I can take, to slow down the progression of my heart calcification?

According to your age, your heart and coronary artery structures are appropriate.
But for heart diseases, more important things are other concomitant diseases like diabetes, dyslipidemia, early heart failure.
If these are present, you are at risk of heart diseases.
So please let me know if you had diabetes or dyslipidemia or poor heart function.
Atelectesis can not cause backache.
Treatment for your CT findings is
1. Quit smoking if you are smoker

3. Expectorant syrup like syrup having ambroxol, guaphenesin, terbutalin etc.
