What Does My Blood Test Report Indicate?

default
Posted on Mon, 15 Feb 2016
Question: Cardiologist please.
I have been doing a breathing routine the past two years, which appears to have dramatically increased the oxygen in my blood. LDL has dropped 33%, Triglycerides down 55% and many, many more health improvements. My blood is much redder and thinner. No colds for 24 months. 20 years of mild instances of atrial fibrillation have all but disappeared. At 71 my blood pressure is about 116/74.
Attached is a sample blood test from many years ago, and my latest Oct/15 blood test. Would you please
give me your assessment. Regards, XXXXXXX XXXXXXX

Detailed Answer:
Hello!

Welcome and thank you for asking on HCM!

I carefully reviewed all your tests reports, and would conclude that your actual blood lipid profile is quite improved, compared to the old one. Your actual total cholesterol/HDL ratio is within the normal limits for men. You should know that this is a better indicator of cardiovascular risk, compared to LDL levels.

Your complete blood count, liver and kidney liver function tests are within the normal limits.

It seems that your breathing routine is effective, in improving your health condition. From the other hand the fact that you have been sick lately, indicates an optimal immune system.

Regarding the atrial fibrillation, could you please upload a resting ECG ? What do you mean with "mild atrial fibrillation"? Is it constant in your ECG or just intermittent?
It would be important for me to review your ECG and give another professional opinion on the need of anticoagulation.

Your INR is within the normal limits for a person who is not taking oral anticoagulation (blood thinners).

I would recommend you to continue your actual physical activity and diet and also keep performing this breathing routine, as it seems to be really beneficial to your clinical situation.

Hope to have been of help!

Feel free to ask any other questions whenever you need!

Kind regards,

Dr. Iliri
