Brief Answer:
Needs investigations.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
From the symptoms that you have described, it is probable that your wife is suffering from dysfunctional uterine bleeding. Although this occurs due to a variety of reasons, the most common reason is when the ovaries do not release an ovum (egg). This can occur due to hormonal disturbances or due to polycystic ovaries or thyroid disorder
I would suggest you to get certain investigations done so that a conclusion can be reached. These include:
a. Complete blood count
b. Fasting blood sugar
c. Follicle stimulating hormone levels
d. Luteinizing hormone levels
e. Prolactin levels
f. Thyroid function tests ( serum thyroid stimulating hormone levels and serum free thyroxine levels)
g. Ultrasonography of the pelvic region
The management of this condition would require treatment with progesterone to stabilize the endometrium and reduce bleeding along with hemostatic agents like ethamsylate or tranexaemic acid . Oral contraceptive pills (OCPs) suppress endometrial development, reestablish predictable bleeding patterns, decrease menstrual flow, and lower the risk of iron deficiency anemia.

You might consult your OB-GYN who can do the needed tests and initiate the proper therapy.
Meanwhile start taking iron supplements to combat excessive blood loss from the body.
Please feel free to discuss further. I will be glad to answer the follow up queries that you have.
Wishing you good health.
Regards.
