Question: Attached my thyroid ultrasound and labs. I have an appointment with an endocrinologist in April but in the interim my primary suggests methimazole. I have a history of Hashi-Graves but it had been in remission for a year prior to these labs. based on the attached results would you think methimazole 10mg daily is appropriate?

Brief Answer:
Do technitium uptake scan

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Welcome to HCM. I have gone through your questions and understand your concerns.

Your thyroid function is showing low TSH but normal Free T4 ( sub clinical hyperthyroidism). If thyroid hormones ( T4) are normal anti thyroid medications (methimez) are not needed now.

You need to do additional investigations like a technitium thyroid uptake scan. If the facilities after not available you can repeat a thyroid function test after 2-4 weeks.

Your thyroid ultrasound ( though not very useful to assess thyroid function) is also showing thyroiditis which require only follow up.

Hope I have answered your questions. If you have any further questions, I will be pleased to help you.

Regards
Dr Ajish TP
