Brief Answer:
Get the report cross checked first.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for asking on HealthcareMagic.

I have gone carefully through your query as well as the reports provided. A sudden jump is very unlikely and I would insist you to get it confirmed from a different lab if feasible. Continue to take thyronorm 100 as of now and repeat the test after a month. Based on the reports the dose of thyronorm can be adjusted suitably.

In case of hypothyroidism you may want to limit their intake of broccoli, Brussels sprouts, cabbage, cauliflower, XXXXXXX turnips, and bok choy. Digesting these vegetables can block the thyroid's ability to absorb iodine, which is essential for normal thyroid function.

Let me know if I can help further.

Brief Answer:
Logic explained.

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back. Thyronorm contains thyroxine. It is the synthetic version of a vital hormone that is supposed to be produced adequately by your thyroid gland. Since you are hypothyroid, the production of thyroxine is not at par with its requirement, and hence the crisis. A synthetic version therefore needs to be supplied to meet the gap. Whether the supplementation is adequate, needs to be assessed and the tests need to be done for the same. Usually testing at 3 or 6 monthly gaps is enough but since there is a confusing situation here, an earlier assessment at 1 month would be preferable. Doses might need to be varied based on the findings of the test.

If the test shows a normal level, it means normal with support, and hence the support dose needs to be continued. Its like wearing glasses. If you see fine with glasses, does it mean that you need not wear glasses anymore? You need to continue wearing the glasses.

Take doses as recommended.

Brief Answer:
Lifestyle modification is essential

Detailed Answer:
Most often hyperthyroidism is due to self-antibodies attacking and damaging the thyroid gland. It is not possible to predict if your daughter will be hypothyroid. Since the thyroid hormones relate to metabolism, it is important to exercise regularly and to avoid junk food. So, basically lifestyle modification is the precaution needed.
