What Do My Lab Test Reports Indicate?

default
Posted on Wed, 18 Nov 2015
Question: Hi Doctors,

I was having pain during my last month's cycle. Went to see a doctor and she advised urine and blood test. Result for blood tests are normal. However in urine test RBC is present 8-10/hpf , Pus Cell 2-3/hpf and Epithelial Cells are present upto 8-10/hpf. Further the chemical examination of urine suggests Urobillinogen as increased and presence of blood. I am very worried now. Anything serious? I am 34 and yet to be a mother. Will it affect my pregnancy chances ?

Brief Answer:
Can be due to urinary tract calculus.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for trusting us with your health concern.
The presence of blood cells in the urine can be due to a urinary tract infection or a renal or a urinary tract calculus which is lodged in the tract somewhere and due to the mucosal injury it is causing, slight bleeding is there.
For diagnosis, an ultrasound scan of lower abdomen is advisable.
This is not a serious issue and can be treated with the help of medicines. It is best to go for further investigations under guidance of a urologist for proper treatment. This does not affect your chances of conception.
