What Causes Visible Superficial Vein On The Left Side Of A Testicle?

Posted on Thu, 7 Jul 2016
Question: Hi doctor

Only last week I sent in a image to Dr XXXXXXX for examination of my scrotum where I could see a superficial vein on the left side of my testicle I have attached pictures. You can only see this vein when it is in a relaxed state, I have also gone to my doctor who refused it to be anything abnormal and Said he couldn't see anything. I can only find it when I press and press and see it on my left testicle but the doctor said it was normal and he couldn't feel anything.
When I have a tight scrotum you can't feel anything

When scrotum is loose after shower and hanging down you can see this visible vein see pictures.

I have been told by a general surgeon it is normal from healthcare magic. Also from my GP who said I had nothing to worry about as he can't see anything wrong.

I am just worried so wanted 1 more opinion from a urologist specialist.

Two doctors have said its looks normal and my GP said when testicle are warm they hang down lower and all veins are visible and said people are made differently and he could feel to enlargements but I can when testicle is hanging lower. Could be due to natural appearance?

What are your views from the images should I take there opinion, as you are a specialist I wanted total piece of mind and forget about this problem.

Also what can you recommend for.ultimate scrotal health and to improve vein circulation?

Thanks
doctor

Brief Answer:
There is nothing to be worried about .

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for your query ,based on the facts and photographs that you have posted it appears that you have noticed prominent veins on scrotal wall in hanging position and worried about it to be some serious issue .

At the outset let me state that these are prominent tributaries of superficial Vein of Scrotal wall that are seen in many individuals and has no significance at all .

These veins become prominent in relaxed position as these veins get filled with blood and they become empty as they are compressed when scrotum is tight.Take it as a normal variation in architecture of venous drainage of scrotal wall .

Hope I have answered your query ,please feel free to ask if you have more questions , I shall be happy to help you .
Thanks and Regards.

Thank you so much for the reassurance.

Why I was worried was as I thought it is a varicocele?

It was really 'u' shaped type vein on left testicle which looked bumpy when looking loose so to conclude that was the vein you was looking at?

I get scared so easily when I see anything like this when I search online it indicates stuff like varicocele how different is this from that condition? And it felt visible to the bottom of the left scrotum and felt a bit bumpy but It returns back to normal when scrotum is hard.

Are Veins like this are they usually tender when touched? I thought it may be from a left testicular vein? I do keep looking at and keep following it to see where it may have come from. But I will draw the line now.

Are such superficial veins found behind the testicle? Also can you finally suggest how to boost optimal fertility health. I was worried incase these superficial veins caused me fertility problems In the future.. I was worried about varicose but how do these veins differ. Is this also a normal finding among all young patients? Who go on to father children?

Brief Answer:
You have bundle of insignificant confusions.

Detailed Answer:
Hello
Thanks for follow up .

You have many unrelated and imaginary confusions .Varicocele is the condition where you get tortuous dilated veins in spermatic cord and never on scrotal wall .

These superficial veins drain the scrotal skin and not concerned with fertility .

Do not surf on internet .It will add to your confusions and anxiety rather than help to address your concern.

Thanks and Regards.
