What Causes Tonsillitis And Dry Mouth With Negative STD Results?

Question: I had 3 sex encounters on
May 12, 13 and 24: the sex was involving female partners only, I used condoms all those times, but I did give them oral sex (went down and licked vagina).
XXXXXXX 1: felt a tingling strep kind of sensation at the back of my throat and slight white coated and hairy tongue, consulted a doctor, they gave me hexamedine oral spray saying that it was a normal infection.
XXXXXXX 3: I got tested for all the STDs, 20 days after May 13, 7 days after May 25 everything was negative.
XXXXXXX 10: The white hairy tongue persists with dry mouth and throat, visited a doctor who noticed white pimple like bulbs at the back right side wall of throat, saying it was tonsillitis (or I think he said tonsil abscess), now I am a 27 yr male, are tonsils common at my age, are there STDs that could this issue.
XXXXXXX 24: The lymph node infront of the right ear got painfully swollen, also there is a non-painful stiffness exactly below both the ears and between the jawline. The doctor gave me a steroid injection for the sweling but nothing from the tongue and throat, he said the nodes are swollen because they are fighting the infection.

I fear the worst 4-6 weeks, dry throat, white tongue (like oral thrush) and swollen nodes. Can advise me with this?

Brief Answer:
antibiotics may help

Detailed Answer:
Hello and thanks for using HealthcareMagic,

It does look like you have had an episode of tosillitis. The lymph nodes are just a normal reaction to inflamed tonsils. I do not think you have anything to worry about. You have already got yourself tested for all STD's so do not worry.

About the lymph nodes. Lymph nodes that are enlarged due to infections at the primary site can take a few weeks to go back to normal size. So please watch the size of the lymph nodes every once in a while. But if your tonsils are still swollen and painful or if your lymph nodes are still very tender and sore then you may do well with a course of antibiotics. Penicillin group of drugs work very well for upper respiratory tract infections.

The tongue coating can occur in infections of the throat. Keep cleaning the tongue regularly and once the infection subsides the coating will go away too.

Drink lots of water and avoid air conditioning and cold foods. Do warm salt water gargling 4 times daily.

Regards,
Dr Rajkishori Godhi.

Brief Answer:
infection can cause blood in sputum

Detailed Answer:
Hello sir and thanks for using healthcaremagic,

Blood can be present in sputum when there is infection in the upper respiratory tract.

Do not clear your throat very forcibly. If done so then the small blood vessels in your throat that are very delicate rupture and result in bleeding.

Since your tests are negative, I do not think that your symptoms are related to any STDs.

Regards,
Dr Rajkishori Godhi.
