Question: I have a 4yr old complaining of mouth pain.. no fever.. she has been sniffling and sneezing.. but nothing more. I can see with looks like a small ref mark on the back of her tongue. But cant see much else..

Thanks for posting on healthcaremagic. From the details that you have provided it seems that your child is suffering from common cold but there is a possibility that it could be a pain due to teething. Unless I can examine it, it is not possible to assess if there is redness of throat which would indicate an infection. Such an infection, be it viral or bacterial, takes 5-7 days to heal irrespective of use of antibiotics. If I had a patient like her, I would suggest giving her gurgle with lukewarm water. Steam inhalation twice a day. No antibiotics needed. You can use some anti allergic like levocetirizine and that will also relive the sneezing.
