Brief Answer:
It is a chronic disease and treatment is lifelong.

Detailed Answer:
Hello Dear,
I've read carefully your concerns.

Levothyroxine should be taken lifelong. When you intend to plan a pregnancy you should get TSH level before and it should be <2.5 mUi/ ml in order to get pregnant.

During pregnancy you should be under close control ( check the thyroid hormones every month).

Regarding your menstrual cycle flow, if your TSH is within the normal ranges with 75 mcg than another cause should be tried to find out (check FSH, estrogen, progresteron, prolactin level).

The hypothyroidism at your age is caused by autoimmune disease and is a chronic process.
There is no diet or exercise that interferes with it. All you have to do is to take levothyroxine regularly and check the TSH level periodically ( every 6-12 months) if the last level has been normal.

Wish you good health.
Kind regards,
Dr.Mirjeta
