Hello, Your daughter is suffering from soft lumps by each elbow and also lumps behind each knee. Your daughter has HLA- 27 marker. She also has aches and pain in a lot of places. You have history of ankylosing spondylitis. The symptoms are indicative of an auto-immune disorder related to HLA-B27 as she also has chronic joint pain or inflammation of joints. Your daughter is advised to get clinically examined by a local doctor, she can be ordered to get a group of tests which may include a rheumatoid factor (RF) with either an erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) or a C-reactive protein (CRP) test. Since HLA-27 marker is not a diagnostic test, it is commonly combined with multiple other tests to confirm the pathology causing the symptoms. Her symptoms can be indicative of elbow or knee bursitis, cysts or abscess. She should get the required blood tests and imaging tests done. The presence of HLA-B27 is genetically determined. In case you have a family history of diseases related to it, you have a greater risk of getting it, it this case ankylosing spondylitis. Get clinically examined by a GP, you will be treated with medicines(NSAIDs), corticosteroids (if required), aspiration and drainage, etc. Your treatment will depend on the pathology detected.
