Question: Hello, My son 5 and a half yrs old has developed some rashes on his hands near armpits. I am enclosing a photo herewith for ready reference. He is not having any complaint like itching or some other thing about it but we wanted to be sure so we are asking you to let us know what it is and whats the medication for the same. Is this because of sweating. Thanks in advance.

Brief Answer:
Idiopathic rash. Keep the area dry. Apply steroid cream.

Detailed Answer:
Hi!

I am Dr. Neel Kudchadkar and I will help you with this problem.

I have examined the photographs you have sent.
The most common cause for developing rashes of this sort is heat based.
I would advise you to keep the area as dry as possible.
Since you say that there is no itching, there may NOT be any fungal infection.
However, you want to apply some bethmethasone valearate cream, a steroid
to the affected area.
This is also called as "Betnovate" cream. It is useful in this situation.
There is no risk to the child as the cream is applied on the skin and not digested like a tablet or a capsule.

Kindly follow these instructions and all should be OK.
If you have any doubts, kindly voice them.

Have a nice day,
