What Causes Rash On Back And Bumps On Head With Black Centers?

Question: my son slept on a floor, now has rash on back and bumps on head with black centers... some of his rash looks like ringworm, other looks like poison ivy... the head is throwing me. He has little bumps all through his scalp. What is this?

Hi...Thank you for consulting in Health Care magic.

Skin conditions are best diagnosed only after seeing directly. I suggest you to upload photographs of the same on this website, so that I can guide you scientifically.
As you say these have appeared after sleeping on floor, it could be an allergic reaction. Kindly get back with the images. If you are unable to get a close up shot on the images as the region is scalp, I suggest consulting a dermatologist or paediatrician.

I have attached photo's of the back and arm area. It started at the back and has now spread more than a week later. He slept on a carpet and used a few old blankets. I have n idea when they were washed as it was not our home. I will see if I can get a clear picture of a bump on his scalp and attach as well. What do you think looking at these photo's?

Bug bite allergy with infection

Detailed Answer:
Hi...this definitely looks like an allergy but off late the lesions look like they have got secondarily infected with bacteria. So it is IBA with secondary pyoderma (insect bite allergy with secondary bacterial infection). This usually occurs as the child scratches the part where the lesion starts and the dirt and bugs underneath the nails with infect the part of the skin there as the skin breaks due to nail pressure.
The scalp lesion is also the same - do not worry.

If I were you treating paediatrician, I would consider a good anti-allergic like Hydroxyzine or Cetrizine orally and along with it I would also use an antibiotic topically. My choice of antibiotic would Mupirocin (this would cover MRSA bacteria which is on the rise now).

I suggest you consult your GP or Paediatrician as these are prescription medicines.
