Should I see a doctor if the child was stung on top of his ear which has turned purple?

My 4 year old son was stung on the top of his ear this afternoon. That area has turned purple. Is this normal? Or a sign that he might be allergic? I don't know if I should take him to the doctor or just ice it. What do you recommend?

Thanks in advance!

Hello! About 5 years ago I got my ears pierced. The piercing on my right ear got infected, so I took it out immediately, which I understood at the time was the best thing to do. A few months after it closed and healed, I developed a lump (or ball) in my ear. I went to a doctor about it (about a year ago), and they told me that I should massage it, because it was a puss ball, and eventually it would turn to liquid, and come out through he piercing hole. So I did as directed, as it did turn to liquid, and the majority of it came out through the hole. Recently (which in the last 4 months), the puss ball has returned, and on occasion becomes very painful, and when this started, I would touch it and it would basically shoot puss out. So I got the idea that I should drain it regularly, and I have been up to now, but for the last several days, it has become very painful, very enlarged, and I am unable to get any puss out of it. None comes out of my ear when I squeeze. I could live with this I suppose, but I believe it might be infected, as the pain is starting to go down in to my neck , below my ear. I am very concerned about this, and I do not know if I should see a doctor (which is very expensive for me, and is rare that I can do so), or if it is even dangerous or could cause harm to my body. I hope you will be able to help me!

my 4 year old son had a very small bruise in his outer ear canal about 1 month ago. It then turned into a small red bump with a little puss, which I thought was a pimple. Then is got a light scab and when the scab came off, it was just red and I thought it was going away. Now it got an even bigger scab and when that came off this morning, it looks worse than ever. The bump is redish purple and looks fluid filled and wet. It also has a very small puss sack at one point on the outer edge. Should I take him to a doctor?

Hi, I have a five and half month old daughter, she use to go off to sleep without any fuss a month back but when she turned 5, she started to make fuss like she cries till she goes off to sleep, during this time i noticed that she is pulling at her ear for which I took her to a doctor, who said that she has a cold because of that she is pulling at her ear, and no drops should be put in the ear, but for her cold I was given Babynol . it didn t make any difference, and some days back she started to poop differently like it has a mucus in it, when taken to a doctor said she has sore throat and cold which did appear after that and she was given antibiotic , but she still pulls at her ear.. Want to know what to do with her sleep and is her ear infected and what can be done with that? Thank you Regards Saima Kamal

Hi! I am a 44 year old woman who was diagnosed with Mono approx 1 mo ago. initially I was feeling malaise, exhaustion and my throat swelled up w soreness and I lost my voice. I was diagnosed with Strep, tx with Amoxicillan and then 6 days on the antibiotic I started getting random welts on my body, very itchy and pins and needles type feeling on the palms of my hands and soles of my feet. I then broke out in a rash. So I took myself off the Amox. thinking I may be ahving an allergic reaction and took Benadryl. Being I was away I came home 9 days after tat still feeling malaise. rash not so bad but the itchy palms and feet were still there. My throat swelled up again and I went bk to the MD. he then drew titers for Scarlet fever and Mono. I was then diagnosed with Mono! I was told fluids, bedrest and Zyrtec D as well as Advil for pain. I am starting to feel like myself however, the itcy and pins and needles feeling in both palms of my hands and feet have reappeared. I tend to still get random welts that don t hurt or itch, they just appear like blotches and disappear after some time. I am concerned that these symptoms are not a part of this diagnosis. What else could it be? Thanks...Maria
