What Causes Persistent Back Pain And Bubbles In Urine?

default
Posted on Wed, 13 Apr 2016
Question: Quick question.
Ive had back pain for years.
Pain recently started moving around a bit and long story short i became obsesivley concerned about my kidneys.
Made several doctors visits over 6-7 months.
Have had several bloodwork and urinalysis run. All normal.
The last being about 30 days ago.
Blood sugar normal- 98
Creatine was normal - 1.1
Bun normal - 12
Urinalysis showed no protien, glucose, white cells, bacteria or blood, all was normal.
It was a urinalysis sent to lab not dip sticks.
All liver and pancreatic enzymes normal
Metabolic panel had bit low vit D at 22 but other than that, all normal.
Also had scans of back and pelvis and chest. All normal.
I forgot to ask the doctor about bubbles in urine. I notice bubbles when i urinate
And reading on internet can give some scary info if you google that.
Anyway, since ive had this testing done and hes assured me all is well, are bubbles normal or insignificant. I think i could have always had bubbles but now that i got scared i think im noticing everything.
They do seem to disipate down to nothing i guess within a few or so. After i brush my teeth they are usually 90% gone.
Again, i see less sometimes and more others.
Know the question is a bit OCD but you guys are faster at providing answers than waiting until march to get in to be seen. Thanks

Hello.

Welcome to Healthcare Magic.

Having bubbles in urine (foamy urine ) can be completely normal.Sometimes the cause is the rapid urination or the cleaning chemicals mixed with urine.
It is true that some medical conditions like proteinuria or urinary infections can be associated with a foamy aspect of the urine but this is not the major finding.
Since you have already done multiple examinations (urinalysis, blood sugar, kidney function tests, liver function tests, scans ) and all were normal ,you have no reason to worry.
Only the presence of bubbles in urine, not associated with other findings (change in urine color, clinical signs and symptoms) is not indicative for any medical problem. All the possible pathological causes for having foamy urine like kidney disease, urinary tract infections etc have been excluded by the examinations you have done.
In my opinion you have nothing to worry about .

Take care.

Thats what i thought id be told.
Over the last few months ive noticed several things pertaining to urine in the toilet bowel both when going and when left until a flush for not only me but the whole family.
Sometimes urine will have little white area about the size of a quarter that seems to be very tiny bubbles clumped together, sometimes if left over night you will see a translucent film. Sometimes urine is colorless and sometimes yellow.
Two of the 4 in my family are my kids so ive been inadvertantly seeing what theyre producing as well.
Im guessing urine can just fluctuate a bit due to hydration, activity, diet, etc...

Hello again.

I apologize for the delay.

It is true that the color of urine depend on it's concentration and dehydration.
I can understand your concern but since you have done all the possible examinations regarding urine and kidneys and everything is normal.
You have nothing to worry about.

Take care.

I guess my concern is being on meds(PPI, tylenol,etc...)
since I have no diabetes no high blood pressure and no symptoms like swelling or urinary changes.
How often would you recommend i get checked out to stay on top of my health?

Hello.

Since you have no risk factors for kidney disease (hypertension, diabetes ) and if you don't have any symptom or notice any change in urine ,then a routine controle every 6 months - 1 year would be enough.Kidney function tests (creatinine,GFR) and urinalysis.

Take care.
