What Causes Pea Sized Lump On Inner Side Of Left Ankle?
Question: I noticed a small lump on the inner side of my left ankle, around the size of a pea. It is hard but when I press on it for a few times, it feels a bit tender and will slowly dissappear, but then it will come back in a while. What could it be? I have no idea how long it's been there I just discovered it a few days ago. Can I wait to see how it goes or should I go to see a doctor soon? Thank you.

It would have been more appreciable if you had shared the picture of the lump. Though, let me rephrase it as, the history you gave is very nicely put.
Since the lump is a bit tender, it would be more helpful if we could have known that, was it accompanied with redness, hot to touch or fever on general. Because all these things point to an inflammatory origin.
Though it disappears on pressing for long, it means it is not solid lesion, so can be a puss or tissue fluid lump. It can also be of vascular orginal if it is pulsatile to touch.
Mentioning all these possibilities doesn't mean to overload you with the number of ideas. It is to show that all these possibilities can occur, but final verdict can be given on careful examination by your GP.
Also that an ultrasound of the lesion, can be helpful to give some idea about the contents of the swelling precisely. All in all, you need to be worried much but earlier the better would be my recommendation when it comes to visiting a doctor.
Meanwhile you can use some good analgesics or anti inflammatory for the purpose and that can give dual advantage of controlling the pain as well as swelling.

the lump cannot be seen from outside - i can only feel it with my fingers. And that there is no redness or hotness, and no fever. Besides all your kind suggestions as stated, is it also possible that it is related to my lymph system..? (or there aren't any lymph nodes at the ankles..?)

See the lymphatic system, drains tissue fluid away from feet to heart, so any blockage must present with generalised swelling around ankles and that may be on both sides quite often. Possibility of single lymph node, without any signs of infection or wound in the respective foot is very unlikely, and lymphomas don't present like this. Also that in that case it wouldnt have been reducable with pressing it for a while.In the same way as every headache isn't a brain tumor, this swelling can also be a trivial thing. But having said that, final verdict can be given after examining it clearly. Also any utrasound will be very non invasive step to know the exact contents of the swelling.
