What Causes Pain In Lower Legs And Joints Of My Foot While Running?

Question: I go for running very often (presently managing daily from couple of months). I get pain in lower parts of my legs i.e. in shin and area just above the joint of my foot. Reason being I need to avoid running every few days. Please suggest.

In the absence of any history of wear & tear or injury, constant pain in lower legs and ankle can be due to:
1. Deficiency of certain nutrients like Iron, Vitamin B 12, Vitamin D, Calcium, etc. which interferes with blood formation & nerve conduction.
2. Decrease in blood sugar levels (Hypoglycemia)
3. Any fluctuation in blood pressure levels such as Hypotension.
4. Hormonal imbalance like Hypothyroidism.
5. Lack of adequate hydration, proper nutrition & good sleep.
6. Even emotional factors like stress/tension can lead to such symptoms.

Investigations like complete blood count, estimation of blood pressure and blood sugar levels will be helpful in clinching the diagnosis.
So, it will be better to consult an orthopaedician & get a proper physical examination done to find out the exact cause.
Based upon that, appropriate management steps could be taken.

I guess its something to do from first 2 points you mentioned above. My question is do you suggest any particular foods to include in diet to ensure I get rich quantity of these nutrients. And also should I take some form of Sugar or Glucose before going for a run ?

You need to include a multivitamin and calcium supplement like Revital Plus and Corcium C. Taking an electrolyte rich fluid like Garotade and fresh fruit juices before the exercise will help.

Thanks XXXXXXX I was reading about the same on net, I believe symptoms match with what it is called Shin Splints but every website has different views and remedies about it. Not sure what to believe and which remedy to accept. Though I tried using a heat pad as recommended on one website but it provides a temporary relief only.

I am actually looking for an expert advice from your side to permanently cure it ( may be a medicine to take or may be to apply some gel or heat pad etc.)

Please suggest.

Heat pads are for temporary relief. Permanent treatment needs a proper diagnosis- cause of the pain. This can be detected only after a clinical examination and few blood tests.
