What Causes Mild Pain In Chest Area?

default
Posted on Wed, 11 Feb 2015
Question: I have had a pain in my chest area for a month. It is 2 inches to the right and 1 inch up from my left nipple. Feels like a pulled muscle. Pain will come and go. No fatigue or labored breathing. I have iced and massaged the area, with no improvement. Pain is not so severe that is causes a change in lifestyle. It is not a general pain, put is specific to a 1 inch square area. Could this be a heart problem of any kind, some type of muscle problem or just a nagging pain from getting old? Please help.

Brief Answer:
mostly it is due to muscle problem.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear, thanks for your question on HCM.
By your history and description I think your chest discomfort is mostly due to muscular cause.
But it is better to rule out cardiac cause first as your age is more than 55. So get done ECG first.
If this is normal then no need to worry for cardiac cause.
So mostly seems muscular cause for your problem.
Try to Follow all these for better symptomatic relief.
1. Avoid strenuous exercise and heavy weight lifting.
2. Avoid movements causing pain.
3. Take good painkiller and muscle relaxant.
4. Instead of ice, I advice you to apply warm water pad on affected site.
So I don't think your symptoms are due ti heart problem. It seems muscle related more.
Hope I have solved your query.
I will be happy to help you further.
Wish you good health.
Thanks.
