Question: Hi, I have been feeling ill over the last 4 years with no definite diagnosis or treatment from any doctor. I am 42 years old and have been extremely tired and have had sore muscles and spasms around neck and shoulders along with scratchy sore throat and swollen glads on sides of my breast and under my arms for the past 2 years. My blood test came back and show that i am anemic and have high progesterone, High Estradol and Very low testosterone. My Red Blood Cell count is low at 3.5 L and my Hemoglobin is 12 L, my hemacrit is 35 L. I am just trying to find answers. Can you help me help my doctors diagnose what is going on with me? I am extremely sensitive and irritable as well. I find it hard to do anything. I am or thought i was very healthy. I am a fitness competitor and eat and work out regularly or used too until i started to have these symptoms.

Brief Answer:
Mammogram is indicated as you have swollen glands on sides.

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
I have gone through your query and reports and understand your concerns.

Based upon your reports the only thing is high progesterone and high estradiol which may be high if you are on any birth control pills to overcome the pre-menopausal symptoms. I am worried about your swollen glands on sides of your breasts. I suggest you to have a breast examination and mammogram done by your treating doctor to rule out the possible causes of breast diseases.I am not worried about our anemia as it is not severe. You can improve it by a good diet rich in iron like jaggery, beet root, carrots, apples, prunes, dry fruits etc.
I also suggest you to avoid strenuous activities right now which may aggravate your neck spasms. If you were my patient I will keep you on muscle relaxant like LIOFEN to treat muscle spasms but as our doctor told those symptoms are due to hormonal changes which will happen before menopause.
If you want to know the exact cause then it is better to go for a PET scan whole body at once rather than having all other investigations as it will give you accurate result and according to that your doctor can treat you.

Hope this answers your query.

Regards,
Dr.Alekhya.
