What Causes Foot And Hand Tingling?

default
Posted on Mon, 21 Sep 2015
Question: Recently I've experienced a host of neurological symptoms for the past six months. It all started with tingling in my left hand which came and went. This was followed by weird sensation in the feet. Not necessarily numbness but feeling as if the feet were falling asleep. I then noticed that I was starting to feel slightly dizzy. Not vertigo. But I had a heavy feeling in my head and I felt slightly slightly off-balance. I found that it was worse when I was indoorsand felt better when I was outside walking. It's sensation would come for a week and then leave. And then would come back for another week and leave. I then felt as though my whole body was on edge, as if at any moment my limbs would jerk at random. The only time my limb has actualky jerked was when i was falling asleep. This has been happening more frequently recently. Ive also felt a weird sensation in my left arm ( not numbness. I've also experienced a hand tremor that comes and goes

Brief Answer:
MS still unlIkely.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again, and thanks for using HCM.

I have read your question and understand your concerns.

I have read your other conversations too.

You still seem concerned about having Multiple Sclerosis (MS) as a diagnosis.

All symptoms you describe seem to be scattered and don't follow a neurologic pattern.

In addition, symptoms related to MS, or caused by MS doesn't change when indoors or outdoors, anxiety disorder related symptoms do.

If not already done, get evaluated by a Neurologist and have proper testing by brain MRI and cerebrospinal fluid examination about MS.

In this way you will peace your mind once for all about suffering or not MS.

Hope you will find the desidered peace soon.

Best regards.

What about the hand tremor. Occasionally i get a hand tremor that my doctor describes as being postural. Usually this symptom comes and goes. What symptoms are typically associated with ms induced hand tremor

Brief Answer:
MS induced tremor coexists with speech and swallowing problems.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome back.

To start, all people show a different degree of tremor that may be enhanced by different conditions such stress and anxiety, drugs, metabolic disorder etc.

It is important to clarify the nature of the tremor, postural tremor is the term used to define uncontrollable shaking of limbs when they are being supported against gravity, okay?

In most cases tremor is bilateral, ie. happens in both hands.

Tremor occurs when complex nerve pathways that control coordination of movement are damaged.

If tremor is related to these pathways being damaged, then other complex coordinated activities such speech and swallow are affected too. ( these nerves pathways go together very closely )

In conclusion, if your hand tremor was caused by nerves damage related to MS, speech ( dysarthria ) and swallowing ( dysphagia ), should be concomitant symptoms too.

Hope you found the answer helpful. Take care.

Brief Answer:
Face muscles tightness could be related to different conditions.

Detailed Answer:
Hello again.

Muscles tightness of the face could be caused by several conditions such metabolic changes of the blood (electrolytes dysbalance mainly, low calcium and magnesium), neurologic conditions related to neuromuscular junction dysfunction, peripheral neuropathy, stress and anxiety disorder, cranial nerves viral infections, etc.

If these symptoms were temporary and didn't repeat, most probably were related to anxiety.

Hope you found the answer helpful.

Take care.
