What Causes Extreme Thirst And Dry Mouth When Diagnosed With CHF And Hypothyroidism?
Question: We're down to two likely causes. Another factor involved is a Dx of LBBB, 18 months ago. Another symptom not listed is 'pins and needles' in the both lower extremities. Also, remarkable thirst and dry mouth intermittently. I'm leaning toward CHF, rather than hypothyroidism as the most likely culprit. I understand that thyroid disease is not mutually exclusive to the current situation. 67 y/o male, heart disease in family Hx (unsure of type - killed father 60 years ago).

Do you have diabetes or hypertension? Are you taking thyroxine? How about your latest thyroid function tests? Have you done echocardiography of heart? Which medicines you are taking right now? Is there any history of coronary stenting?
These all queries need to be answered before a reasoned conclusion can be drawn.
Dry mouth, needle pins sensation may be due to diabetes. Hypertension can also cause it too.
Sometimes there is need to adjust the dose of thyroxine which also gives a variety of symptoms.
Kindly give me the answer of above queries do that I can provide you expert advise.

"Elaborate on symptoms..." Did the first 2 pages of your Q's transmit (edema in feet & ankles, etc) ? In order:
Assuming that they had, I would guess I have Diabetes Type 2.
At the time of the Dx of LBBB, I was found to be hypertensive.
Am not taking any meds, for anything.
Have not had any test for thyroid function.
Have not had any tests for cardiac function, subsequent to the Dx of LBBB.
Have never taken any meds, for anything. at all.
Have never had a physical.
The only time I had visited a medical facility of any type was on an emergence basis which resulted in the Dx of LBBB (EEG test?). I declined their generous offer of an ambulance ride to the cardiac unit they were affiliated with for further tests.

Based upon your response, in my opinion it is must for you to visit your physician at least once. If I am your attending physician , after clinical examination I will investigate you. There is need to get your Full Blood Count, Renal function tests, ECG, Echocardiography , Random blood sugar and Thyroid function tests. In the light of these i will be able to proceed.
BP charting is must so that appropriate medicine can be prescribed.
For needles and pins sensation, GABAPENTIN is a good option to start with.
It is in your best interest to visit your Cardiologist.
Stay calm and avoid salt intake and vigorous physical activities.
