What Causes Dry Eyes And Hot Flashes?
Question: I am 53 years old, I have an under active thyroid and take synthyroid, I also take C.E.S for hot flashes, and pristiq for depression. Currently my eyes are very dry and burning, my outer vagina is burning and red, I went to the doctor and am being treated for a yeast infection, already took mylan fluconazole 50 mg 9 tablets, 3 tablets every three days. I completed it and I am still burning. I have always had yeast infections since a young age and confirmed an overgrowth of yeast by taking a blood test which was read under the microscope. I also have an upset stomach with burning bowel moments. Help!

The eye symptoms are possibly related to postmenopausal hormone distress.
They need correction through instillation of eye lubricant like Methyl Cellulose Artificial tears thrice a day.
With regards to vaginal yeast infection and burning coexistence of bacterial infection is high.Hence suitable antibiotics have to be given.
For this I recommend Oral pills of METRONIDAZOLE for 14 days.Please check with your physician if he shares my view and if can prescribe these pills to you.
Likewise Vaginal health can be improved through application of estrogen cream.

Do I need a prescription for the eye drops? Also, does the estrogen cream get inserted into the vagina or absorbed into the skin?
I was put on six weeks worth of antibiotics in December because I had something underneath my skin on my chin which was causing itching and burning and scales on my face and the doctor at the medical centre said it was caused by yeast in my body and at that time I had pressure in my eyes and they were dry and itchy. I am scared that is what is happening to me again. Then exactly three months to the day after I finished the antibotics, I was put on 10 days of antibiotics for a sinus infection. My doctor treated me for the yeast infection but it did not work so I went to the medical centre and that is when I got the 9 tablets. I went for a urine sample and it was good. Before I got your diagnosis I went back to the medical center and got a culture taken yesterday and have to go for blood work. When I get the results I will take your recommendation in.
