What Causes Dizziness, Greenish Stool And Low Grade Fever?

default
Posted on Fri, 25 Apr 2014
Question: Hi. I was not feeling great last week. I felt kind of dizzy/light headed and had a low grade fever. My fever is gone now but every time I have a bowl movement it is kind of green and has a sort of metallic smell. I am on several medications including methotrexate, wellbutrin, meloixicam, xanax extending release, birth control, and I have been taking omeprozol for about a month now to combat heartburn that I was getting from the meloxicam. I am kind of concerned because the smell and color have lasted for a week now. Any advice would be great. thanks

Brief Answer: likely to be due to food and drug intake Detailed Answer: Hi Welcome to Healthcare-Magic Greetings of the day Dear Ms Let me reassure you, in the absence of pain abdomen, fever and distension of abdomen there is no cause to be worried about color and smell of stool. Greenish stool usually occurs due to more consumption of sugar like lactose. Smell of the stool also depends on food intake and medicine ingested. Also long term use of omeprazole causes compete suppression of Gastric acid and lead to bacterial overgrowth. This factor along with other medicine you are taking could be cause of smell. Rest be assured there is no cause for concern. Take care Best Regards Dr T Shobha Deepak MBBS, MD
