Excessive stomach acid, chronic gurgling, squirting noises in abdomen, prescribed bentyl, advised endoscopy. Is this necessary?

I am a 41 yr old female who just saw a GI doctor today for excessive stomach acid and chronic gurgling; squirting noises in abdomen. He prescribed Bentyl(?) and wants to do an endoscopy . Is this procedure necessary? I have no pain or burning just noises that i cannot control that go on 24/7. Nexium doesn t quiet them nor does phenergan. Should I have the procedure done anyway or get 2nd opinion? He says gastritis or possible IBS but do those things start as suddenly as my symptoms did?

General Surgeon 's  Response
Hi,

It could be gastroesophageal reflux disease, so it is relevant to do an endoscopy to determine if you have a hiatal hernia.

Hope I have answered your query. Let me know if I can assist you further.

Regards,
Dr. Anders Mark Christensen, General Surgeon

hi, For past 3-4 months I was having occasional mild stomach pain towards lower left abdomen. It was in the afternoon (breakfast + lunch) and I used to have stomach bloating with gas. However, after 2 months back the stomach bloating & gas has receded but I had bit yellow concentrated urine and weakness in legs. I got a LFT and the billurubin level is 1.8 (0.4 - 1.2) and the abdomen ultrasound indicated mild fatty liver. I used to have a very pale yellow stool for the past few months. I consulted a gastroenterologist and he didn t even look into the reports until I told him about the findings. He doesn t think of any issue with my stomach, but have given me some 3 tablets to take for 5 days and go for a endoscopy after that if it doesn t recede(need to tell that this is a money making hospital, almost everyone has endoscopy prescribed who visits the gastro dept.). At the same time I consulted homeopathy doctor (family doc from since I was 5 yrs old, I am 26 now) and I took his prescription. After a week, I went for a urine and blood test and the bilirubin has dropped to 1.5. Moreover I don t have weakness in my legs and lightheadedness and the stomach pain. Only I have a bit of bloating and gas in the evening still. Do I need to go for an endoscopy to clear-out any doubts ?

Hi Doctor, I m Chandra Reddy from Bangalore India. I have been suffering with stomach bloating, flatulence and tightness since three weeks. I consulted gastro enterologist locally and got examined with abdomen scanning and endoscopy of upper GI and doctor said every thing looks fine and advised me to reduce my weight. He proscribed me Pantaprozole 40 mg and live lactic acid basillie for two weeks, however I dont see any improvement, still I badly feel stomach tightness. Please advice.

My 15 year old daughter has occasional severe lower abdominal pain. She will feel the need to urinate and then won t be able to. She ends up with severe pain, curled up in a ball crying. This happens to her about once a month or so. We have a urologist who has conducted every test there is (invasive and otherwise) and everything comes back as normal. Any suggestions on what our next step should be. We ve been with the urologist for about a year. She s seen a gynecologist and all tests were negative. She also saw a doctor to see if she had diabetes, again negative.
