Hello,

If your ENT guy told you nothing was in your throat then I suggest a barium swallowing test to determine if you have a condition called dysphagia. If so, we have to determine what consistency of foods/liquids to drink so you don't feel that annoying lump and it might reveal things the doctor could not see visually.

Emotional distress can also cause these symptoms.

Brief Answer:
You feel better?

Detailed Answer:
Try some relaxation techniques - if religious use prayer; use meditation; use yoga or Tai Chi; find your inner peace.

Yes, emotions that are buried can make you feel like you have that lump in your throat that you get when you try to hold back tears. I practice mind-body therapy as part of my nutritional therapy and that type of therapy helps in balancing everything out.

I do think now that we speak more, that at least part of your problem may be related to a repressed emotion or emotion you have not dealt with. Still consider the other options we spoke about.

When did the panic attacks start and the lump in the throat begin? Anxiety? You may want to seek treatment for the panic attacks and anxiety. Physicians may prescribe a variety of medications for that. Or, many practitioners will ask you to try lemon balm tea before retiring.

Try today to practice relaxation exercise and see if it helps. I am here if you wish to keep talking and exploring ideas for another follow-up. Otherwise, if you are satisfied, please rate and close this query. XXXXXXX Shattler, MS,RDN
