What Causes Discomfort And Pressure Near The Mesh?

default
Posted on Thu, 12 Feb 2015
Question: I've had four abdominal surgeries; first beint a hysterectomy in 2009; 2010 I had a repair of the anterior vaginal wall; rearended; fast forward to colorectal surgery and infection which caused another surgery covering my entire abdomen with mesh. Under the mesh there are issues and the pressure of a bra or anything tight around area restricts breathing. The doctors I've seen haven't thought of the trauma to my body by surgeries nor tried to connect. Do you have an opinion. Tomorrow is the beginning of a new team. I was handed opiates like candy and not one doctor paid attention to new symptoms after colorectal surgery and hernia repair. The night I had the hernia repair I was in so much pain (nerve - near resection of colon) I moved so much, could I have disturbed mesh? This also hasn't been addressed and one would think my breathing would be addressed. I believe it's ok to check with you. The reports I have are not worth sending as even the SPEC CT was not correct as radiation pooled so it didn't give complete picture. I will send new reports. Hope your health is good and it's ok to ask you questions, still.

Brief Answer:
Mesh is usually anchored so can not displace

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thanks for writing in again
Am better, you can write in any time

The mesh s usually anchored with the surrounding tissues so the likely hood of it getting displaced are very remote

The pain could be because of reasons which need to be eliminated by trial and error as it has been quiet some time and nothing has been conclusive

The pressure over the operative area causing difficulty in breathing could be because of the reduced contents of hernia causing pressure but can not last this long

Will await the new reports
Wishing you a good luck with the new team

Thank you. I have no doubt I sound like a hypochondriac; I hear what I say and find it hard to believe that I got so lost in the cracks after MVA, that not one doctor knows my entire history; we were new to the area and the doctor I was with for a very long time was no longer available. I will look to better care; a body can't have so much trauma and so many questions - the brain takes over.
My best to you and I will wait to write when I feel confident I'm being heard and have faith in those I'm seeing. Your kindness and knowledge has been very helpful.

Thank you so very much. you have been very thorough and kind. I give up and cannot continue because I'm so complex and once Chronic Pain was the diagnosis after MVA, I don't seem to stand a chance.
Must be a reason for this; I cannot grasp it, but, time will tell.
My best to you - you are much stronger than I.
