What Causes Breathlessness And Palpitations While On Lyrica?
Question: I have been taking Lyrica, 75mgm in am and 150mgm at night for nearly 12 months because I have neck problems! I have just recently had some very odd episodes of breathlessness, heart palpitations, dizziness , fatigue and feel quite peculiar! Normally fit person and these episodes make me quite anxious. I just turned 73 last week!

Your symptoms suggest following possibilities.
1. May be problem related to heart.You need to consult doctor and electrocardiogram should be done.
2. problem related to lungs. You may need to be examined by doctor for that. Auscultation and if needed chest x- ray should be done.
3. nutritional deficiency. It may be vitamin B12 or Vitamin D deficiency.Serum level of vitamins should be done.
4. It may be hypoglycemia due to less food intake or overexertion.
5. Possibility of anxiety episode is also there.
But Lyrica(pregabalin) it self acts as anti anxiety drug. It is used in generalized anxiety disorder for treatment. So less possibility that it may be due to anxiety.
6.Considering your age it may be postural hypo tension episode also.
You need to be examined by doctor to confirm the cause and treatment.
