What Causes Abdominal Pain And Bloating When Diagnosed With Endometrial Polyps?

default
Posted on Tue, 23 May 2017
Question: I've had on-going pelvic pain on the left side in the area of the left ovary. (since mid-March) Ultrasound revealed 2 cysts (1 simple & 1 complex w blood flow). 8 days after ultrasound, cysts burst most likely, had more pain, generalized pain all over the abdomen & very significant bloating..... painful & abdomen distended for 2 days. Then went back to pelvic pain in area of left ovary.....was worsening. Had ultrasound today. Both cysts on left ovary were gone. Began slight bleeding after ultrasound. No explanation for pain. I convinced dr. I know my body. Finally w exam she found a raised patch on the far left side of my cervix (extremely hard to see.) She barely touched it & blood began gushing from it. It felt like she cut me & pain was sharp. PA unsure what it is & GYN appt w the doc (not PA) in 2 weeks to show her. PA said it didn't look like a polyp, a fibroid, or a neb... cyst (forgot how to spell it). Said none of these should be blood filled or painful like this. What could it be?

Brief Answer:
Still itl can be an endocervical or endometrial polyp with infection

Detailed Answer:
Hi
GREETINGS
I can understand your situation.
You haven't mentioned about your menses details.Though the cysts disappeared after few days there was an acute condition causing pain abdomen and bloating.
in addition any lesion on the cervix which bleeds after touch has to be evaluated at the earliest. Considering your age it can be a pelvic inflammatory disease along with infected cervical or endometrial polyp .Also we need to rule out cervical malignancy as it bleeds on touch.unlikely to be infected nebothian cyst.Feel free to ask your doubts with more details.
Regards

Most of my life menses were very painful (fibroids probably?) Was thrilled to have an ablation a few years back to get rid of many fibroids & reduce painful menses. After ablation, menses was very, very little & no longer painful...could use panty liners most of the time. Then menses completely stopped (about 2 yrs ago?). It was stopped for at least a year & then menses returned (slight to moderate w some cramping). I went to gynecologist, blood work did not reflect menopause; however, I had a long period of hot flashes a couple of yrs ago & haven't had since. Gyn said it's normal for menses to return. That appointment was well over a year ago. Menses has completely stopped again for (8+ months) approx. I haven't had a period for at least that long. I requested a repeat bloodwork to check menopausal levels, & both the PA & I forgot about it & I didn't stop at the lab. I turn 50 yrs old in July. I'm not sure when is typical for menopause to begin, duration, or avg age when complete. Do malignancies (if it is) bleed when touched? I thought they were solid matter?? Can polyps (whether infected or not) grow that far over on the side of the cervix? and can they be more like patches with no visible stalk? I thought polyps were typically coming out of the hole of the cervical opening into the vagina???? Any recommendations on where to read up on the things you have mentioned (endometrial infection, polyp infection, cervical malignancy (bleeding patch), etc that are reputable sites & will cover this info? It's gonna be a LONG 2 week wait to see the Gynecologist!!!!!!! Should I ask 1 of her partners to look at it prior to her return?

Brief Answer:
I recommend a gynaec check up at the earliest.

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Thank you for your reply.Hoping that you have reached menopause endometrial of cervical polyps possibilities are less.
Cervical erosion or chronic cervicitis can also cause similar problem.
Either a colposcopy or at least a speculam examination is mandatory.
Hence I suggest you to get a gynaec check up at the earliest .
Very difficult to comment without out physical findings.
Hope you are convinced.

O.K. Thank you for your advice. This is my final question. Please be as informative & thorough as you can about these final questions. I thank you in advance & you have been most helpful. I am very concerned, but I have a tendency to force myself not to act too quickly & assume I'm just blowing things out of proportion & just over reacting, so basically I slow down & wait when maybe I shouldn't.
It sounds like you recommend I go ahead & schedule to be seen immediately with my Gyn's partner(s) prior to my regular Gyn appt when she returns in 2 weeks. Can this be cancer? Would cancer cause bleeding only when touched without having incidences of bleeding otherwise? If it were cancer, what type could be the options? Are these other conditions you have mentioned serious (infection, erosion, etc) Again, any recommendations of a good site to reference for info? By the way, could it be a blood filled blister? Does that happen gynecologically? I will call today to see if a partner can see me sooner than the 2 week appointment.

Brief Answer:
I suggested an earlier gynaec check up in view of your age and symptoms

Detailed Answer:
Hi
Certain conditions are very difficult to comment without physical examination .
Especially a lesion on cervix which bleeds only on touch .
Other conditions mentioned are also possible .In the beginning it bleeds only on touch especially after sexual activity or gynaec exam.
You can search for cervical erosion or causes of bleeding from cervix.
You never had a recent pap smear test also to compare .Hence I suggested an early consultation with a gynaecologist. Hope you are convinced.please inform me too , the following ups.
