Question: hello im 60 years old male and ive been dignosed with cutis marmorata could u tell me if this is going to develope into more serious issues on my thigh i realize it could be a precursor to other deseases like lupus i wish to gleen all your wisdom u can tell me about this complication i have. im a health food nut that smokes im an ex alcoholic now for 2 years but having trouble kicking the cigs i know it would help to quit smoking my truck broke down 2 years ago so i have been riding bike for 2 years lost 30 pounds got rid of my irregular heart beat and i can run like an 18 year old playing cork ball in outfield i do everything omega getting my good fat in me everyday so my diet is excellent im trying stuff like mixing cayenne pepper with aloe vera and applying on area in hopes of getting better circulation to the small blood vessels and i am ingesting cayenne pepper pomagranate chia seeds flax meal and other similar foods that are good for blood vessel health anyway instead of going to hospital for further tests( no health insurance) i read up on marrmalota and it said no cure. oh heres some interesting past history where maybe i induced this condition i have a fetish from childhood about womens nylon stockings and the stockings that i had on recently were rather tight (quit shaking your head and saying jesus) could that have induced the symptoms of marrmalota but i dont truly have the desease but the tight stocking disruppted good blood flow so do u have any advice how to make this condition go away. im also praying to jesus for his mericals upon me.

Brief Answer:
Poor circulation

Detailed Answer:
Dear patient,

Thanks for the query. Cutis marmorata may be a signal of poor circulation indeed, and if you used the tight stockings for too long that may be contribution; it could also be related to peripheral vascular disease of the legs; what I would suggest is to stop the stockings, and ask your doctor about a test called ABI, which is an ultrasound to screen for obstruction of the arteries of the legs.

I agree that Jesus is and will always be the best doctor and miracle worker, keep your faith as well and work with your doctor.

Hope this helps, wish you the best,

Brief Answer:
Vascular disease does not mean losing a limb

Detailed Answer:
Hello there thanks for the follow up. Despite your excellent changes in lifestyle, there may have been damage related to heavy drinking and smoking. Now, if the appearance of the skin is the only sign or symptom, meaning no pain of the legfs with exercise, no ulcers, preserved skin hair, etc, then I would be reassured: most important thing as you say is diet, exercise and no smoking. Hopefully you have a had a cholesterol check and is within normal limits.

I see no contrainidcation to continue your topical treatments and massage.

Yours truly
