Brief Answer:
Acid reflux will cause irritation to her vocal cord and voice loss.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome to HCM: Please note that the stoma contents/acid comes to vocal cord and causes irritation. This in turn will cause voice loss. With this symptoms you do need treatment for acid reflux with a proton pump inhibitor. This would be a doctor prescribed strength. In the interim please avoid eating too late in the night before going to bed. It at least 2-3 hours before going to bed. Avoid spicy foods. Avoid drinking large sums of liquids before going to bed. And always uses 2-3 pillows to avoid acid regurgitation to your throat. Good luck and hope this helps.
