Detailed Answer:
Hi,
How are you? My name is Dr Suresh Raghavaiah. I am a surgical Gastroenterologist and I hope to answer you question today.
I am so sorry to hear about your diagnosis but I am glad that you are getting operated for the same. Hope things go well.
Regarding your question, I always advise my patients to drink plenty of water. I would advise you to do the same. please do take in a minimum of 4-6L of liquids (water, fresh fruit juices, coconut water, milk, etc (avoid sodas)) everyday. this has been the single most effective treatment for all kinds of constipation. in addition please do eat a high fiber fruit every night ( XXXXXXX banana, papaya, etc) just before going to bed. This will make it much easier for the early morning bowel movement. If both of these do not work, then I would advise an over the counter bland laxative (liquid paraffin) to be taken in the night. This should solve your problem.

Please do let me know if this helped and I hope you feel better. Please do not hesitate to write back for any clarifications.

have a great day
