Suggest Treatment For Swollen Lymph Node On Neck

default
Posted on Tue, 30 Dec 2014
Question: Sir, I had a swelling (Olive size) of my left neck lymph node for the past 10 to 15 days and recently found a few more developing above & below it and also on the other side of the neck though all others are much smaller. While I consulted a physician, he suggested me for an FNAC-CERVICAL LYMPHNODE (LEFT) the findings were :
MICROSCOPIC APPEARANCE : Smears revealed many lymphoid cells comprising of small follicular centre cells including immunoblasts. No granuloma seen. No atypical cells present.
PATHOLOGICAL DIAGNOSIS : SMEARS ARE SUGGESTIVE OF 'NON-SPECIFIC LYMPHADENITIS'
The doctor has prescribed CEFAKIND-CV 500 - TWICE A DAY FOR 10 DAYS and also SELSUN (Shampoo for dandruff).
The other problem I have noticed is that I am not able to comfortably lift my left arm sideways beyond 45 degrees after which I have to strain a lot to lift it. Also I find a difference in the shape of my shoulders (left & right) while I left them both together.
I want to inform you that I have BPPV (vertigo) and also while the process of FNAC I felt dizziness and a few minutes later had vomiting, fell to the floor, had a elbow injury and was unconscious for a couple of minutes.
Please suggest me if I can wait or should I go for further examinations immediately.

Brief Answer:
You can wait. You will be alright.

Detailed Answer:
Hello XXXX
Your FNAC findings suggest non specific lymhadenitis means inflammation without definite reason. There are no granuloma,it indicate absence of infective causes like tuberculosis etc.Tubercular infection is a common reason for enlarged lymph nodes in this region.
You don't require any further investigations.
Non specific lymphadenitis in neck may be due to many reasons like dandruff, ear infection etc.

You have been prescribed right medicines.Antibiotics and anti dandruff shampoo are rightly prescribed. You should take it regularly.

You don't worry. It is a common condition. You will be alright.

Dizziness and vomiting is common after FNAC. You will recover soon.

Get well soon.
Hope I have answered your question.
Further queries are most welcome.
