Suggest Treatment For Swollen Abdomen And Choking Sensation In The Throat

default
Posted on Mon, 5 Dec 2016
Question: I have an issue with my abdomen, my stomach is swollen all the way up to my breast bone and it is the largest part of me. My Dr. thinks it is all just fat, I am overweight because I am short, but I think its more than just fat. Because my stomach is so large it causes me to feel like I am choking and that something is closing up my throat. I have had scans and tests and all they can say is the fat is being pinched by my breast bone. I feel as if there is something else they do not see causing my fat to be pinched by my breast bone. I am trying to lose weight but one day I will weight 3 pounds less and the next day will weight 3 pounds more.

Brief Answer:
Please kindly provide some more information

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

Thank you for using HCM to post your question.
I read it carefully and I understand your concern.

Can you tell me what tests you have done? Maybe uploud them here so I can have a look? And by kmowing what you have already done, I can understand what problem we rule out and if there is anything else left to diagnose.

Also I need to know if with stomach sweelling you mean from your belly button and up or all the abdomen? For how long have you noticed this?
Do you have any pain except this feeling like the stomach is swollen? Do you have any other symptom? How is your bowel movement? What about your urinary tract?

How many pounds are you and for how long have you been attempting to lose weight? How much weight have you lost so far?

I'm sorry for all these questions but all them help me understand more so I can give a more accurate opinion based on all the information you will give to me.

Looking forward to your follow up question.

Regards,
Dr.Papaqako

I have had a scan test on my Gall Bladder and they said it was about 50/50, Kidneys tested out just find, but I do have cysts in both my Kidneys, a few weeks ago I took the cancer screening test on my female parts and I do not have cancer there, just some fibroid (can't think of proper name) but no cancer.
I have had the scope run up me and down my throat, they found nothing.
(Sorry if I can't remember all correct names at this time), I would have to look it all up if you still need it.
Last week my Dr ordered a scan on my upper abdomen and under my left breast and all they said it was the fat in my stomach being pinched my my rib cage.
I have had every test except the full body scann and I am on Medicare and I don't think Medicare will pay for it.
I will look for information if you still need more.

One more thing a few years back I had a wreck and the seat belt tightened up on my left side so tight that it bruised me and hurt so bad I was in bed several days before I could go back to work, but they hospital that treated me after the wreck said all was ok, no broken bones.

I have had a section of my colon removed due to the fact I had diverticulitis so bad that I had no choice. Belly button was repaired 2 weeks after that because it was ruptured and sore and had been that way for a long time.

The place on my left front right under my left breast gets hard after I eat and I must eat small amounts at a time.

My stomach started getting bigger and bigger in the last few years , like maybe 8 or 9 years and its swollen from right under my rib cage all the way to my lower abdomen. I had a very small, waist line until my stomach started getting so big. If you still need to see a copy of what was done so far I will have to load them on my computer and try to find a way to send them to you. If I have to pay more I cannot afford it.

I tried to provide more information but the computer froze up and just sit there clocking, I do hope you gfot the rest of the information I was sending.

Brief Answer:
CT scan is a very accurate test

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

I'm very sorry for taking so much time to answer.

But I read carefully your explanation.

Seems like you have done a lot of tests and all you are describing seems normal except the gallbladder but that doesn't give that type of feeling you have.

The best test is the CT scan which does cutting of the all width of the abdomen and checks it every 0.5 cm or less. So it looks so much in details that it can't miss a cancer or something like that.

I am sorry I don't have an answer for you, but with the information I have I think it is enough for you to worry about.

I would encourage you to keep trying to loose weight and expecially do exercises for the belly part, because you will soon feel much better. Apparently you have that tendency to gain fat in the stomach area.

Please feel free to let me know your thoughts if you still have questions or concerns.

Regards,
Dr.Papaqako

Thank you, I have had a CT scan, but they still just say its fat, however I feel that they have missed something. In my upper right of my stomach it get kind of hard especially after I eat and I am very uncomfortable, I have trouble getting my bowel to empty and it comes out pencil thin. I am trying to exercise, but so much of the time I am so tired. MY gall bladder is operating on a 50/50 % basis, that is all I know

Brief Answer:
Healthy lifestyle it is very important.

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,

It the CT scan says it is fat, then it is fat. The CT scan is very accurate.

It these symptoms happen when you eat it is because the stomach expands and pulls forward the fat and you feel it more. It also increases the pressure in the abdomen and you feel discomfort because of it. But this is normal if you have some fat there, and as I said I believe that you will feel better if you do exercises for that area and lose some weight.

If you are having that pattern of bowel movement, it is most probably because of the portion of colon that you have removed. Tell that to your doctor and you may probably consider a colonoscopy too.
Don't worry about the gallbladder.

Have a healthy lifestyle. Drink plenty of fluids, good diet, exercise, stop smoking and alcohol.

Regards,
