Suggest Treatment For Spinal Injury

default
Posted on Mon, 9 Feb 2015
Question: Hi, in 2012 I came off my horse and snapped my spine in two and a piece of my spine was pinching my spinal cord by 40%. Although I have recovered well I just cannot get back to feeling as well as I did before the accident. I do the housework and walk my two German Shepherds every day but everything is such an effort, sometimes to do the simplest of things. I do not sleep well at all and I seem to suffer with terrible fatigue, along with poor memory and poor balance at times. I have had blood tests done and they were all fine. I do take medication for high blood pressure but even that seems to be really good at the moment. I keep mentioning all of this to my GP but he just keeps telling me I had a very bad accident. Normally, I am not a typical 67 year old, but at the moment I feel 100. Please help.

Need more info

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for the query

I need more info in order to help you better, I am not convinced that it is the spinal injury that is causing all the symptoms

1. Are you stressed about something? Is something troubling you constantly ?
2. Why do you think you are not able to sleep well at nights? Is it because of some noise, light, worry, etc
3. Are you overweight? please mention your height and weight
4. Do you snore at night?
5. Do you wake up feeling fatigued?
6. Have you checked your Vit D, Vit B12 and thyroid function?

Please get back to me, I am awaiting your reply.

Regards

( 1 ) No, I cant say that I am stressed about anything at the moment or that anything is troubling me.
( 2 ) I dont think it is anything in particular that is causing me not to sleep.
( 3 ) I am 5ft 0 ins and approximately 11st 7lbs. I have put on weight since the accident.
( 4) My husband says that I sometimes snore first thing in the morning.
( 5 ) Yes, I never feel rested and within an hour or two could quite easily lay down and go to sleep again.
( 6 ) The blood tests said that my thyroid was ok but I dont know about the two vitamins.

Hi, did you receive the above answers. Thank you.

Hello

Thanks for getting back

Here the possibilities as to why you might be feeling out of energy. I don't think your current state has anything to do with the spinal injury

1. snoring at night is related to these minute wake times which makes you feel extremely tired and out of energy. I suggest you lose weight or approach a chest medicine specialist for a sleep study
2. low vitamin d and b12 levels often lead to fatigue, please get it checked
3. short hormonal replacement therapy has worked in a few menopausal women, I want this to be your last option to try after the first two
4. engaging in exercises and takig up a hobby will certainly help

I hope I was of help, I am sorry for the short delay in my reply I just woke up. please get back to me if you have any further queries

regards
