I am an 18 year old female. I m slightly overweight but dieting . My problem is that i snore extremely loud. i wake my boyfriend up and its tearing us apart. i sleep with my mouth open so nasal strips dont work. ive take non- snoring pills and tried throat sprays. they dont work either. i dont have the money to buy a mouth piece so what can you suggest?

doctor1 MD

Hi there,
I would suggest that you do regular exercise 30-45minutes per day 5 days a week. Try to reduce your weight. That might reduce the snoring.Try to sleep on your left or right side.Don't sleep on your back. Avoid smoking/alcohol.
Have a nice day:)

Disposable nasal packs are available at pharmacies for reducing snoring.
The last resort is a corrective surgery which would be decided by a ENT specialist.

its an ENT problem. Internal nose got affected in almost a sudden manner in the night after during sleep after consumption and although snoring problem was already there but with this problem i started having pain along with snoring particularly while breathing out. consulted ENT specialist and he prescribed a course of antibiotic along with citrazin etc. Got temporay relief but problem persisted and sleep remains disturbed along with permanant burning in the nose and headache. consulted another specialist got CT scan done and as per him there is polypi as nothing came out in CT scan. Again he prescribed medicines similar to what was prescribed earlier but again temporary relief. problem is persisting for last one and half years and it gets aggravated with any exposure to cold and also alchohol.

I am a female, 65 years old, 5ft. 1 in., 130 lbs. Have had celiac disease for over 30 years. Doing very well on GF diet. For the past week my mouth has been extremely dry, as well as my soft palate. It is extrremely uncomfortable to even try to swallow any saliva I might have. I believe i have a post nasal drip that is making my throat tickle. I experience this each June, but never had this dry soft palate. My husband can tell by my snoring and other noises that I am uncomfortable while I sleep. Have also been feeling lethargic for the past week. Would I see my GP or go right to my ENT?

Dear Doctor, I am the mother of a two year old girl with multiple food allergies, causing severe skin rashes and itching. We were doing ok with the management of this but recently she has been very disrupted in the night, every hour or so. She snores heavily, her nose appears either blocked or runny, she breathes through her mouth, her breath smells fishy and more morrying, we watched her last night and every now and again she seems to stop breathing. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, she has been through so much, she is also being seen for GI issues. She is of normal development and otherwise thriving. Thank you very much for your assistance. Anna

Hi, my 3yr old son very seldom breathes through his nose, he is a very noisy sleeper/breather and often when sleeping he stops breathing and after a few seconds gasps loudly in between snores. His breathing sounds more like a rattle than a wheeze and we have had inhalers from our GP as he thinks it asthma related although there seems to be very little improvement. Other symtoms include drooling, choking occasionally when eating and his speech is sometimes hard to understand. Could it be adenoid related?
