Brief Answer:
It may be lump following unnoticed head injury or sebaceous cyst

Detailed Answer:
Hello

Thanks for the query

The pea sized lump of sudden onset on one side of forehead without any skin change, painless and immobile that has enlarged gradually is most likely due to any unnoticed head injury.
Other possibility is sebaceous cyst(although unlikely as it does not increases so rapidly).
I request you to upload an image so that I better able to help you out.
I won't get overly worried if child is comfortable, there is no fever, bruise over the lesion and it is not painful.
Looking forward for your reply.
Regards

He is restong well. No s/s of head injury. I figured it was from unknown injury as it is common at this age for them to bump things. He didnt complain. Started off like small mosquito bite but had no bite area. I think he is fine. Just wanted a second opinion. The photo doesnt do justice for size.

Brief Answer:
The possibility of evolving cellulitis/dermatitis should be ruled out

Detailed Answer:
Thanks for writing back

I have gone through the image. You have mentioned earlier that the lump is on left forehead but here I have noticed a slightly reddened swelled lesion above the right eyebrow. If this is the lesion it may be cellulitis/unnoticed head injury.
On the left side of forehead there is small area with altered skin texture with mild elevation. You have mentioned that it is of normal color but in the picture there is hyperpigmentation and also not of grape size..Although the left sided lesion is not clear, if it is the lesion you are mentioning about it appears to be a dermatitis due to some insect bite(or contact dermatitis).

If the lesion is rapidly increasing in size and there is any other associated symptoms like itching, pain or redness I would like to get him clinically evaluated by a pediatrician.
