Brief Answer:
Need more information.

Detailed Answer:
Hi

Thank you for asking HCM.

I have gone through your query. Considering your age and sex it can be most likely androgenetic alopecia also called male pattern hair loss. In such case long term use of minoxidil and capixyl will be helpful.

How is the pattern of hair loss? Is it more on frontal and crown areas?
Does his father has same type of hair fall?
Have you ruled out anemia, hypothyroidism and vitamin D deficiency?
Is he a vegetarian?
What medications have you used?

Please update with answers to above questions.
I am happy to help you.
Thanks.

Hair loss is more on frontal & crown area. His father also has the same pattern but started loosing his hair only after 40.
He is a vegetarian.
Though not sure about the vitamine D deficiency, hypothyroidism & anemia is ruled out.
Medicines are zinc & vitamine supplements given by the trichology centre & treatment is stem therapy treatment which contains extracts of swiss apple, argan tree extracts etc. & also hair nourisher tonic which most probably contains minoxidil.
If this is a genetic pattern he doesn't have any hope for the reversal of hair problem?
I have also heard that once you stop using minoxidil you will completely loose the remining hair also though trichology centre advised him to use the hair nourisher only for 2 years.

Brief Answer:
Most likely Androgenetic alopecia.

Detailed Answer:
Welcome again.

Thank you for your follow up.

Your problem is most likely adrogenetic alopecia ( male pattern hair loss). It is genetic.

Using minoxidil solution is the FDA approved therapy for this. Minoxidil should be used for long term to get benefit and it should be continued also. You can get results after 4 months of usage. Minoxidil doesn't cause fall of hair you already have when you discontinue it. It may cause fall of hair which you got after minoxidil usage when you discontinue it.

You can also use ketoconazole based shampoos twice weekly.

Vitamin D levels and vitamin B12 levels levels should be checked. In case of deficiency supplements of those should be taken. B12 deficiency is common in vegetarians.
There is also a new preparation used for androgenetic alopecia called capixyl. This is also effective when used twice daily on scalp.

If all these are not effective then you can consider hair transplantation.

Hope this may help you. Let me know if anything not clear.
Thanks.
