The past week he has started having bad allergies and yesterday i took him to the dr because his bad cough started again. They said he had a ear infection. He is on amoxicillan and bromfed. Today his cough is a lot worse. The medicine isnt helping at all. Its a very hard dry cough.

Brief Answer:
Try an allergy medicine which will help if cough is allergic

Detailed Answer:
Hello dear,
Thank you for choosing HCM for posting your query.

I read carefully your question and I understand your concern.

From what you are describing, 2 cases are possible:
-- Your son might have healed from the first bronchitis and since he is prone to having those, he might have got another one.
-- Or he is the first bronchitis he have had has been complicated with pneumonia.

In both cases, you have it covered with the antibiotic which not only works well for ear infections, but for pneumonia too.

On the other side, if the cough is dry and you say that your son is allergic, then you should take something to cover the possibility of the cough being with an allergy cause. Giving him Loratadine 10mg once/day for 5 weeks may help him in that case. Its a very safe medicine so trying it for some days may give an answer to your questions.

I would say look at his general condition too, that is very important. If he has fever, is tired, not eating, playing as usual, then you should consider checking him again, because the antibiotic may not be the best one from him.

Hope this is helpful.
Let me know if you need more clarifications.
