Suggest Treatment For Redness And Soreness In Between Buttocks

Question: My husband was diagnosed with a fungal infection between his butt cheeks. Doctor prescribed Nystatin cream,USP, put on 3 times a day. That was 3 weeks ago and by now it has crusted over. However last week, there was a small slit on one side and it bled. Not too much but blood was on his pj's. Today I put the cream on this morning and now, it is red and VERY sore. He can't sit without a cushion under him. It is Sunday and of course, his doctor is not available. I plan to call first thing in the morning, but until then, what can I do to help take the soreness away. I will NOT put any more cream on his butt.

Brief Answer:
Warm tub

Detailed Answer:
Hi,

Sitting in warm tub of water is probably the best plan for him now. He can also do some icing of the area if it helps to reduce the pain. It will help reduce soreness as well.

He can repeat this whenever the pain dominates. I do not see a need to put Nystatin cream while he is in pain and sore.
