Suggest Treatment For Pulsating Sensation In Ear Along With Heaviness In The Chest Area

default
Posted on Tue, 7 Apr 2015
Question: Hello, I have been experiencing constantly hearing my heartbeat in my left ear, very tired, sob of breath on exertion, chest tightness and heaviness, fatigue, and I have a hx of anemia, high cholesterol, low iron, hypothyroidism. My main concern is the heartbeat in my ear, I've heard it may be related to the high cholesterol build up causing turbulence as the blood flows thru the artery near the ear. What do you think I also skipped my monthly during February and January and when it finally came last week I had to change a thick sanitary pad every hour for 3days. I'm still spotting and it's been I week.

Brief Answer:
It all may be due to thyroid disorder

Detailed Answer:
Hi
I am Dr Mittal
I have read your query.
The fact remains that the symptoms are possibly due to your prior conditions.
Anemia and iron deficiency increase the heart rate.
Thyroid disorders also add to the situation.
Together it may have been cause for the excess pulse rate.
You may have palpitations also.

As for cholesterol, it causes turbulence everywhere and not just ears.
Also, you have to know that statins may help you with the cholesterol problem.
A good healthy diet is essential too, and I usually suggest DASH diet (details of which are available amongst my articles on the site).

I also suggest a echocardiogram to rule out a valvular heart lesion.
As for menses, they may be related to the hypothyroidism status. Its common to have irregular periods in presence of thyroid disorders.
So check your thyroid profile if its well controlled on medications.
Herbs may not suffice.

I hope that helps.
Best of luck.
