Suggest Treatment For Non-itchy Skin Rashes

default
Posted on Thu, 21 Jul 2016
Question: I have had a non-itchy, skin rash for about 5 weeks, and it seems to be spreading. Lots of very tiny, raised dots, that are very slightly darker than my skin. Started on my inner arms. No change in detergents, diet, etc.

Brief Answer:
Either seborrhoeic keratoses or pityriasis versicolor

Detailed Answer:
I have reviewed the attached photograph and there are two possibilities: either seborrhoeic keratoses which are benign lesions of the skin due to proliferation of skin keratinocytes or pityriasis versicolor which is a superficial fungal infection of the skin.
I would recommend you to consult a dermatologist and get them examined clinically.
Seborrhoeic keratoses is usually removed by radiofreqency ablation or electrofulguration.
For pityriasis versicolor topical antifungals like clotrimazole cream or terbinafine cream is applied on the affected areas for atleast 6-8 weeks.

Thanks for your help.
If it helps with the diagnosis, the numerous lesions which started on my inner forearms, are slowly increasing in number spreading further on my arm, and possibly on my abdomen.

Brief Answer:
Chances of it being fungal infection are high

Detailed Answer:
Chances of it being fungal infection ( pityriasis versicolor) are high.
You can give an empirical trial of antifungals like clotrimazole cream on the affected areas twice daily for 2 weeks.
If it doesn't improve consult a dermatologist and get it evaluated clinically.
