Suggest Treatment For Nausea, Fatigue And Dizziness

default
Posted on Tue, 21 Jun 2016
Question: I wake up with nausea. Nausea continues for several hours. I eat a little oatmeal. Then I go to bed and rest and sleep for several hours. Then I am able to be up until an early bedtime. I feel very weak and fatigued. Sometimes I feel faint and dizzy. All my blood work checks out. I see an internist regularly. I have had an endoscopy and colonoscopy which check out ok and gastroenterologist said after these and a stomach emptying test which was normal, he had no answers. I have AFib, fibromyalgia, arthritis, degenerative spine, peripheral neurathapy. Also, see Rhumatologist, Cardiologist, and Neurologist. Take ondansetron which does not help. Condition keeps me in bed all day some days. Have had these symptoms for several years. No specialist has an answer and does not know where to send me next. Please suggest a direction for an answer. Thanks.

Brief Answer:
Hormone tests

Detailed Answer:
Sorry to learn about these disabling symptoms.

When I see someone like you in my practice, I typically order the following blood tests in addition to a detailed physical examination:

CBC (Complete Blood Count, also known as Hemogram; includes Hemoglobin, WBC and Platelet counts)
Electrolytes (Sodium and Potassium in particular)
HbA1c (Glycosylated Hemoglobin = your 3 month glucose average)
Liver function tests (SGOT , SGPT, Albumin, Bilirubin, Alkaline Phosphatase)
Kidney function tests (BUN, Creatinine)
TSH
Free T4
25 hydroxy Vitamin D

None of these tests require any fasting and can be done at any time of the day.

I see you have undergone a battery of tests and no specific cause for your problem is identifiable.
However running the above tests may reveal some potential reasons such as a thyroid condition or low vitamin D.
