Want to understand weather it is serious or we shall wait for few more days. Also his vaccination is due for Typhoid 1, shall he take it considering his case or it is advised to wait?

Brief Answer:
Looks like viral illness - have explained the danger signs

Detailed Answer:
Hi...Thank you for consulting in Health Care magic.

Fever of 3 days without any localizing signs could as well a viral illness.

Usually rather than fever, what is more important is the activity of the child, in between 2 fever episodes on the same day. If the kid is active and playing around when there is no fever, it is probably viral illness and it doesn't require antibiotics at all. Once viral fever comes it will there for 4-7 days. So do not worry about duration if the kid is active.

The danger when you need to worry are -
1. Rash all over the body
2. Decreased urine out put
3. Seizures
4. Fast breathing or respiratory distress
5. Blood in stools
6. Inability to feed and becoming lethargic

Paracetamol can be given in the dose of 15mg/kg/dose (Maximum ceiling dose 500mg per dose) every 4-6th hourly that too only if fever is more than 100F. I suggest not using combination medicines for fever, especially with Paracetamol.

Thanks for answer. Kid is active and playing well during episodes between two fever.
There is a vaccination due for Typhoid 1. Shall we go ahead for it?
From the danger sign, I have noticed that he avoid solid food and take only milk. Shall I consider it as danger sign?

Brief Answer:
Avoid vaccination when there is fever

Detailed Answer:
Hi...Coming to your queries directly -

1. usually cough and cold and diarrhea and vomiting are not contraindications for any vaccination (including typhoid), but the issue is fever. When we vaccinate a kid with fever and if the fever continues we will not know whether that fever continuation is due to original fever or due to vaccine induced fever. So - Avoid vaccination when there is fever

2. You need not consider taking only milk as danger sign. Any sort of fluid intake will do. If the kid's urine output is fine - don't worry.

I wish your kid a speedy recovery. If you need any future medical consultation and suggestions, I will be glad to help. You can approach me at the following link. Please find the link below -
