Suggest Treatment For Edema In The Legs And Feet While Having Diabetes

default

Question: I am getting so frustrated with this lousy tablet. I just spent 15 minutes writing up my description and question and it disappeared.
I have type 2 diabetes. I also have peripheral neuropathy. Several months ago my primary care doctor told me I have edema in my legs and feet.. A few months ago, I began to have swelling in my left ankle and foot. I had x-rays done, which came back negative for any breaks. My cardiologist also had an ultrasound done, as well as, a stress test and both came back negative for any kind of blockages in the arteries or veins.
Within the last couple of weeks, I started experiencing itching in the area of my ankle and the top of my foot. In the past week or two, these areas have become a darker red, almost looking like a rash. A few days ago, I noticed a few spots within the reddened area that almost appear to be whitish looking. But, that is my concern and the basis of my question.
Does this appear to sound like anything serious?

Brief Answer:
due to neuropathy probably

Detailed Answer:
Hello,

It seems like you've done all the necessary investigation for this problem. Since nothing else came up, it has to be due to neuropathy. So it's either edema due to neuropathy itself or the first stage of Charcot arthropathy.

Both diagnoses are clinical, so there is no certain way to tell. You can try leg elevation and perhaps stockings. An antihistamine may help in case it's a strangely presenting allergic reaction.

I hope it helps!
Kind regards!
