The Buffalo hump on my upper back is getting bigger and it is so ugly and is very distressing,I am constantly plucking hair from my chin and have to strip the hair from my upper chin .I am a diabetic and have high blood pressure which is under control. My weight was between 8-9 stone until I was 50 and then went up and down and I am now 87 Kilo. I don't feel very feminine any more although I try to dress as smart as I can.I am 77 and have this problem for a Long time, please can you help me. XXXX
Brief Answer:
Cushings syndrome
Detailed Answer:
If you feel that your signs and symptoms are compelling enough, then it would be worth testing for Cushings by couple other methods. One is the midnight salivary cortisol and the other is a 1 mg overnight dexamethasone suppression test.
The 24 hour urine free cortisol test is also pretty good provided your kidney function is good. Do you know what your serum creatinine is ?
Further, it would be relevant to check for blood levels of androgens ie male hormones like Testosterone, DHEAS and androstenedione, given the symptoms of excess hair growth that you are experiencing
