Brief Answer:
PCOS can be controlled not cured..explained

Detailed Answer:
Hello,
Thanks for contacting HCM,
PCOS or polycystic ovarian syndrome is a symptom complex comprising of oligomenorrhoea or delayed irregular menses, excessive bodily hair growth or hirsutism due to increased androgens or male hormones and polycystic ovaries on both sides. PCOS is most commonly accompanied with obesity and hence increased insulin resistance which is th primary cause of anovulation and infertility in such women.
Diabetes as you have been diagnosed further increases insulin resistance and worsen the PCOS symptoms. Hence the aim of the treatment should be keep the insulin resistance low with insulinogenic drugs like metformin and exercises along with low dose oral contraceptive pills for at least 6 months to regularise the menses after bringing back hormonal balance and decreasing hyperandrogenemia.
It is to be understood that PCOS can be controlled and cannot be cured completely , same as diabetes. you have to be really strict on diet and exercise and have to educe weight. Drink 12-15 glasses of water daily. Avoid oily and spicy fast foods in diet, take low dose oc pills and anti diabetics like metformin regularly. The treatment should be taken of rat least 6 months before effects can be seen notably.
PCOS is the most common problem in reproductive age group among the present generation and has to be controlled to counter its infertility effects.
